The nitro chime goes quiet
The three little notes that rang out every time you earned nitro kept coming back, above all when you bump into the scenery: they are gone for good. The nitro you earn still shows, and your gauge fills up just as before.

Every level now has its own music
Every level now plays its own music, from the same family as the game’s theme: a band organ at the Fun Fair, a Hammond organ and rain on the roof in the Attic, a 3 a.m. electric piano at the Corner Shop, neon-lit brass at Strike Lanes… It starts on the loading screen and takes over from the museum’s radio in a smooth crossfade, with no cut. It loops through the race, softens when you pause, and hands back to the radio when you return to the museum. The Music slider (Settings › Sound) sets both.

You can hear the attic’s ghosts now
In the Attic, every ghost that comes up through the boards near you lets out a soft, wavering “hooooo”, more spooky-for-fun than scary. One that a car drives through flees with a little whistle, on top of your catch’s sound when it’s yours. You hear them where they float: left, right, ahead or behind, fainter when they’re far off.

Car-to-car crashes that really hit
When you ram another car, you finally hear it: a heavy thud with real weight and the crack of plastic, instead of the little clack from before. Five different sounds take turns, so two crashes in a row never sound the same. The harder the hit, the louder and deeper it gets.

No more synthetic sounds
Every sound in the game is now a real sound effect: not one is made up on the fly by the browser anymore. Rival cars get real tire noise instead of a hiss, the title screen has a sound of its own, and the drift screech only plays on a real drift. Anything that doesn’t have its sound effect yet stays silent instead of playing a stand-in.
