The game

Everything is
a track.

Remember Saturday afternoons, remote in hand and batteries running hot? Voltane is that, supersized: the neighborhood sidewalk, the stairs in the house, a parking lot bristling with ramps. And everything lying around on the road gets pushed, knocked over or smashed to bits.

  • It slides, it flies

Loose, progressive RC handling: handbrake drifts, jumps, flips and rolls that fill up your nitro.

  • Everything breaks

Giant dominoes, a castle of blocks, breakfast on the table: smashing fills your nitro, and the biggest wrecker drives off with the Vandal title.

  • Seven items

A homing rocket, water balloons, a steel ball, a bomb dragged along on its chain: first place has to be earned.

  • Eight online

Quick Race, Ranked for Voltage, or a Private Lobby with a code: up to eight drivers. The server referees it all, so nobody cheats.

The tracks

Three
playgrounds.

The neighborhood, the house on the corner, a stunt parking lot: in the menu, each one plays on its own channel on the museum’s TV. Solo or online, each has its own records, map and best drivers.

  1. Maplewood’s starting grid in the afternoon: four cars, the houses, the sun.

    01The big neighborhood

    Maplewood

    Streets and yardsTwo shortcuts

Sixteen handcrafted houses, the brick school and its yellow bus, the big park and its pond. Two laps of a whole neighborhood, streets wide enough to race four abreast, and two shortcuts: through the living room of the house on the corner, and through the park keeper’s garage.

You race it after school, in the middle of the afternoon: sun on the lawns, leaves drifting down from the maples, and along the sidewalks, trash cans, parcels and garden gnomes just waiting to go flying.

  2. Stunt Arena: a car climbs a monster ramp, nitro blazing.

    Stunt Arena

    Arena15 ramps

A fenced-off parking lot, fifteen ramps side by side in three rows: the gentle slopes, the tall ones and the monsters. Pick your ramp every lap. The tallest keeps you airborne for 1.65 seconds.

  3. The House: the car plows through the breakfast table, bowls and cups go flying.

    04Saturday morning

    The House

    IndoorsHardwood

The sage-green house on the corner, from the inside, on a Saturday morning. Up the stairs on the planks the kid laid down, through his bedroom and the bathroom, under the bed, then a leap from the balcony onto the couch. Breakfast is on the table: it flies too.

And everything lying around smashes to bits.

The giant dominoesTwelve of them, on the way to Maplewood’s school. Just push one.
The piggy bankAt the top of the bed jump, in the kid’s room. Smash it: online, it rains bolts.
The living roomYou get there from the balcony: 1.8 seconds in the air, landing on the couch.

And this is only the beginning: more playgrounds are on the way.

The garage

21 rides.
Each with a mind of its own.

From the buggy to the hearse, from the racing mower to the ice cream truck, each one comes in its own box, with its stats and often a signature trick: a parachute, a propeller or a wind-up spring. 1 is yours from the start, 20 are won in races.

The modes

Six ways
to wreck everything.

  • Solo Race

Seven rivals, items on the track, and first place to grab. From Chill to Legend.

  • Time Trial

Your best lap stays, and its ghost races with you. Or a friend’s, or the world record’s.

  • Free Roam

No clock: explore, jump, tame your car.

  • Quick Race

Eight drivers, right now, for fun and XP. You vote for the track.

  • Ranked

Your placement races first, then your Voltage goes up or down, from Spark to Storm. One season, one badge.

  • Private Lobby

Your rules, a code to share, up to seven friends. With or without items.

The arsenal

Seven items.
Zero mercy.

Capsules from a toy vending machine, planted on the track: drive over one and help yourself. The bombs, though, lie in wait on the asphalt.

  • Turbo

2.5 seconds of boost, without draining your nitro.

  • Shield

A honeycomb bubble that soaks up the next hit.

  • Oil Slick

Black oil behind you. Slippery, for everyone else.

  • Firework

A rocket streaks toward whoever’s ahead and lifts them off the ground.

  • Water Balloons

Three balloons lobbed high: they slow, they shove, they soak.

  • Steel Ball

Dropped behind you, it rolls on and bowls over whoever hits it.

  • Bomb

It waits on the track: drive over its chain and it hooks on and lights up. Whip it into a rival.

The loot

Every race
pays out.

Online, you finish every race with bolts: for racing, for finishing, for your place, for putting on a show, and a bonus for your first win of the day.

Bolts are earned on the track. They can’t be bought.

  • Crates

At the finish, the mailman comes by: Cardboard, Taped, Express or Golden. Inside: bolts, sponsors, kits, decorations and blueprint fragments.

  • Challenges

Three a day, three a week, the same for everyone: finish three races, play a ranked race, smash thirty things…

  • Sponsors

A brand stuck on your car for a few days, in paper, vinyl, chrome or holo. Slots open up as the car levels up.

  • The Counter

At the back of the museum: today’s shelf, the capsules and the blueprints, all paid for in bolts.

The menu

Even the menu
is a level.

No flat menus here: the menu is an RC car museum, bathed in sunlight. The camera flies from the hall to the Carousel of modes, from the Stockroom where your boxes pile up to the TV corner, where every track plays on its own channel. Pick one, and we dive into the screen.

The hallThe display cases, and your car on its spinning stand.
The TVThe House on the air, then we dive right in.
